Let it (not) snow...

We'd been wondering if we should fly home to Christmas this year. I wanted to have Connor spend a few Christmases at home with Nana and Granddad while we can but flights are crazy expensive this time of year. So once more we opted to sit tight in Malaysia.

After reading about the snow chaos, I'm kinda glad we did. We got a text about noon from a friend who'd made the flight back. He'd been stuck for 11 hours in Schiphol Airport and was now waiting for his wife to drive through the snow to pick him from the airport in Aberdeen. His entire trip home (Kuala Lumpur-Amsterdam-Aberdeen) had taken 38 hours.

I can't imagine having to do that with a 2yo in tow. Connor is a very good traveller for his age, we've never had meltdowns with him on our trips but I think this would have been too much to ask of a little boy. So I'm glad we missed this.

But I'm also a little sad we missed yet another chance to celebrate Christmas with Nana and Granddad. They would have loved it. We're so far away and they don't get to see him enough. If it'd snowed, Granddad and Dear Hubby could have helped Connor make a little snowman in the back garden. That would have been so cool.

To everyone travelling home to your loved ones for the holidays, please take care and have a safe and happy holiday season.
