When there was an aftershock around 6:45pm KL time, Connor was having his dinner. He was spooning macaroni into his mouth when I felt our apartment block sway gently. My first instinct was to grab my son and leg it out of there. Fortunately for us, and even more so for the people of Aceh, nothing more serious happened.
I saw a picture last night of an Acehnese woman holding her child as she tried to flag down a car to take her to safety. That picture hit something in me. If something had happened, my biggest fear would have been Connor's safety. I'm sure she was desperate to protect her child.
I'm glad the danger has passed. For now.
