Dear Hubby and I have been together for
seven years now. In those seven years,
we have moved a total of 4 times due to his work commitments and rented more
than our fair share in those years.
We’ve also bought and/or sold a few together.
When it came to property selling and/or
renting, Jakarta (where we lived for two years) and Kuala Lumpur proved pretty
much the same. We registered our
interest with a property company, stated our budget and other criteria and the
company would generate a list of properties that matched our criteria. Then an agent would arrange to take us out
one day where we would view something like 6 properties in a row.
Things are quite, quite different in the UK.
We did a lot of property searches on
various websites long before we arrived in the UK. A site that like that of sold homes mls was
pretty typical of what we used.
There was no agent taking us around
either. We made our own appointments and
often spoke directly to the owners instead of agents. In a way that was better as we spoke directly
to the people we would be dealing with instead of a disinterested 3rd
party.
It’s all ended rather well though as we’re
now happy owners of a little house somewhere in Aberdeenshire!

Hi, I've love reading your blog! but I dont know how to subscribe to it (new to blogging)...usually there is a "Subscribe" widget where I enter my email ID but cant seem to find in on your page! The "subscribe to posts" link takes to some other page which asks me to choose a reader etc which is confusing! help!
ReplyDeleteHi there, thanks for dropping by and your comment! I've fixed it.. I've put a Subscribe button on the page. That's pretty strange, I used to have one and I didn't realise it'd disappeared so thank you for telling me!
DeleteHi, the "subscribe to post" still has 3 options of yahoo etc - none of which I use. The other blogs that I subscribe to use feed burner, and once I subscribe, their subsequent post come directly into my email inbox. Can you see if something like that can be done. cya !
DeleteHmmm.. you're right.. I remember it used to be just feed burner. I'll go root around and see... not the cleverest at this blog layout thing but I'll try! Thanks for letting me know, really appreciate it. :)
DeleteI think I've fixed it this time... let me know if it works this time!
Deleteglad my "input" helped! have subscribed to your blog now. loved reading it cuz it somewhat mirrored my life in the past two years living as an expat wife + new mom in Jakarta...hehehe...in case you're interested my url is http://coolbreeze10.blogspot.com
ReplyDeletenow we're headed back to India. congratulations on Number Two!
Ooh.. how was the Big Durian? Miss it sometimes.. not the traffic and the flash floods but the people. Indonesians are so much more open and friendlier than my fellow Malaysians.
DeleteEnjoy your trip home and thank you re: Number Two, we're looking forward to his arrival!
