For many of us Liverpool fans who pause to remember this day, we've usually forgotten it come next match day. Not so for the families of 96 fans who never came home from a match 22 years ago.
2 years ago, on the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy, the official Liverpool FC website published letters written by the families to their lost ones. It was absolutely heartbreaking to read letters signed by Daddy and Mummy or written to Daddy, telling them of events that had happened in the 20 years they'd missed - nephews and nieces being born, children grown up, mates who'd married.
I'll never forget my first visit to the Memorial, seeing teddy bears left behind, flowers, scarves, letters signed by still grieving parents. You know for those families there's a hole they'll never fill.
RIP our 96 - forever young every one of you.
